Associate
Stuart is an Associate Attorney at Chernoff Vilhauer whose practice areas include trademarks, copyright, privacy, and technology, but his particular focus is on all forms of intellectual property and technology litigation. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Federal Bar Association, Oregon Technology Law Section and Multnomah Bar Association and the Portland Art Museum, where he volunteers as a Board member for the Contemporary Art Council.
As a litigant, Stuart works to find amicable resolutions and settlements with opposing parties to avoid unnecessary delays and costs in finding resolution, but recognizes that sometimes you need to stake a flag and hold your ground. He has argued in both state and federal courts as well in arbitration and administrative proceedings. When it comes to the other facets of his practice, Stuart seeks a wholistic understanding of his clients’ needs because sometimes the right solution is not the obvious one.
As a lifelong Oregonian, Stuart enjoys traveling to explore outside his home state, but always yearns for the combination of coastal and mountain access and natural beauty that the Pacific Northwest offers.
Stuart graduated cum laude from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon in 2021. He graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove in 2015.
